Holden Penney Named to LSWA Soccer Team
Sunday, December 5, 2010
HAMMOND, La.-Centenary's Holden Penney was recently selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) with Honorable Mention honors on the 2010 All-Louisiana Collegiate Soccer teams, announced Sunday.

Penney, a native of Laguna Beach, California, garnered a team-tying best eight points on a consistent effort across the field. At the forward position, Penney notched two goals and dished off four assists this season.

She fired off a team-best 36 shots as 17 landed on goal. Despite facing a mid-season injury that sidelined her for three games, Penney started all 15 contests she appeared in for the Ladies.

A sophomore, Penney fired off the game-winning goal in Centenary's lone league win against UMKC at home on Oct. 22.

Penney was one of 18 student-athletes, representing nine in-state Louisiana institutions that garnered Honorable Mention honors. The 2010 All-Louisiana Collegiate Soccer teams were selected by the state's sports information directors.

LSU's Alysha Chapman received Player of the Year honors while McNeese State's Johnna Germany received Freshman of the Year honors and Southeastern Louisiana's head coach Blake Hornbuckle was selected as Coach of the Year.
