Gym Talk: Tawnee Hadd
Monday, January 10, 2011
Hi, my name is Tawnee Hadd and I am a freshman on the team. We were just finishing up Christmas break and I was all packed and ready to head south to see my team and start working out with them again. However, the weather had other plans. I was stuck in the airport until Monday due to the weather conditions. I was so upset not to be able to see my team, but once I got there Monday night for conditioning it was like we had never left.

After a couple of AMAZING practices on Monday and Tuesday we had our team Holiday party.  All of the freshmen and Laura came early to the party to make the dinner that the seniors had picked out. None of us are the greatest cooks, but with team work, and a little help from the Creamers, we managed to make a great senior dinner!! After we all ate dinner, we got in groups of 4 or 5 and played our own style of "Gymnasts Got Talent"! We went from comedy acts to backstreet boys to my group who did cartwheels with eggs balanced on a spoon!

The rest of the week we practiced hard, and set up the Gold Dome with our equipment to prepare for our first home meet. Soon meet day had arrived!! I started my day with breakfast with some teammates and their parents. Then it was time to start getting ready for my first college meet! I met up with a couple of the seniors to help me with my hair and makeup. It was so cool to be with all of my teammates in the locker room getting ready and listening to music to prepare for our first meet. After we all were ready it came time for us to warm up our events. After an amazing warm up, we went back to the locker room to change into our competition leotards and huddle up to shout our cheers and get pumped up for the meet. Lastly, we said a prayer before it was time to compete.

During competition we rocked bars and vault; it was some of the best gymnastics I have ever seen some of my teammates do. Beam and floor didn't go as well as we planned it would, but everyone was having fun and I'm very proud of all of my teammates!! After the meet was over, we invited everyone down from the stands and the TWU Pioneers to join us in the Cupid Shuffle on the floor. It was so cute to see all of the young gymnasts looking up to us as their role models.  After awards, we went to the locker room to change where Gretchen announced that we had gotten 408 Centenary Gymnastics Fans in the stands!!! Overall, I had a great night with my team and I am excited and can't wait for the next meet!!
