Ladies Earn 3-1 Win over UNO in Home Opener

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team made an impressive showing in its home opener with a 3-1 win over UNO on Saturday afternoon in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies improved to 5-2 on the year with the victory. Centenary opened the match out strong with a 25-20 set one win, before falling 21-25 in set two. The Ladies stayed composed and dominated the third set with a 25-14 win, before edging the Privateers in the final fourth set, 26-24.

Senior Jaclyn Lopez led the offensive attack with 14 kills, while junior Shelby Singleton and freshman Brooke Bahlinger each contributed with 12 apiece.

Sophomore setter Bethany Nuttall contributed with 20 assists, while senior setter Caitlin Neese added 18.

Defensively, Lopez made 10 digs for a double-double. Freshman Sarah Sumner made a career-best 10 digs and Bahlinger added nine to the mix.

Centenary produced its best overall numbers in the third set when the team combined for 12 kills and no errors for a .480 hitting percentage.

Centenary will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to Marshall, Texas for a 7 pm conference showdown with ETBU.
