Ladies Improve to 2-0 in ASC Play with 3-1 Win over TLU

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Texas Lutheran in ASC play on Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in conference play.

The Ladies (4-3, 2-0 ASC) won their second straight game over the weekend.

Texas Lutheran jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal at the 9-minute mark, but Centenary's defense held the Bulldogs in check for the rest of the afternoon.

Centenary senior Candace Rushing tied the game at 1-1 on a successful penalty shot at the 31-minute mark in the opening half. Even at 1-1 through halftime, the Ladies came out and dominated the second half with two goals.

Junior Holden Penney took a feed from junior Traci Lee to tap into an open goal to put Centenary up 2-1 at the 50-minute mark. Freshman Hannah Pfannenstiel executed a rebound shot from Penney that resulted in an open net goal for her first collegiate goal of her career.

Centenary out shot Texas Lutheran, 15-7. Penney led the attack with four shots, three on goal, while Lee made three shots, two on goal. Also contributing on offense was senior Laura Immenschuh and Rushing with two shots each.

Freshman goal keeper Brittaney Dunn earned the win in goal, collecting two saves.

Centenary will travel to Louisiana College on Thursday for a 5 pm contest.
