Gents Shutout TLU, 4-0; Improve to 2-0 in ASC Play

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team dominated play on Saturday afternoon when it defeated Texas Lutheran, 4-0 in ASC play on Mayo Field.

With the win, the Gents improved to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference action.

It was an all-out effort by Centenary, both on the offensive and defensive ends to secure its second consecutive shutout win.

Centenary freshman Gabriel Zahm netted his second collegiate goal and the first Gents' goal of the day on a pass from junior Adam Ghaemmaghami at the 14-minute mark. Centenary didn't let up as senior Ryan Christianson's feed to senior Marcos Rodriguez gave the Gents a 2-0 lead just 25 seconds later.

Senior RB Asemine contributed to the action with his first collegiate goal on a Centenary penalty kick at the 25-minute mark to extend the lead to 3-0. He was followed by a goal from junior Spencer Nickerson, his first of his career, on a double assist from senior Jihad Elaydi and Christianson for the 4-0 win.

Centenary out shot Texas Lutheran, 23-10, led by Christianson and senior Ben Barcelona with four shots each. Rodriguez and Asenime each added three and Ghaemmaghami chipped in with two.

Junior goal keeper Robbie Ramirez collected his third win of the year and second shutout after tallying four saves in goal. Sophomore Chase Duet finished the game in goal, playing the final 16 minutes, making one save.

Centenary will return to action when it travels to Louisiana College on Thursday for a 7 pm game start.
