Preview: Volleyball to Host UT-Dallas, UT-Tyler this Weekend

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will look to bounce back after a disappointing five-set loss on Tuesday when it hosts UT-Dallas on Friday at 7 pm and UT-Tyler on Saturday at 2 pm in ASC play in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies are 5-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play heading into the weekend matches. Centenary is currently 1-0 at home this season with a 3-1 win over UNO last weekend.

Centenary is coming off a 3-2 loss at ETBU this week, falling 16-25, 26-24, 15-25, 25-22, 7-15 to the Tigers on the road.

A LOOK AT STATS
Centenary continues to be paced by junior middle blocker Shelby Singleton with 116 total kills and a .520 attack percentage. The New Orleans, La. native also leads the team with 34 total blocks. Freshman Brooke Bahlinger follows with 73 kills, while senior Jaclyn Lopez is close behind with 64 to her name.

Senior setter Caitlin Neese contributes with 244 assists, while senior Taylor Gilmour and sophomore Bethany Nuttall each add 11 and 10 service aces, respectively.

Defensively, Lopez has a team-high 82 digs, while junior Jesi Wilcox is one shy at 81.

Centenary is outhitting its opponents, .245 to .157 with 11.5 kills per set.

A LOOK AT UT-DALLAS
UT-Dallas enters Friday's contest as the Preseason ASC East favorite. The Comets are 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play with consecutive wins over LeTourneau, ETBU, and UT-Tyler.

Dana Hilzendager leads the offensive attack with 107 kills. Defensively, Amy Gunter has made 157 digs.

A LOOK AT UT-TYLER
UT-Tyler will travel to Mississippi College on Friday evening before meeting the Ladies in the Gold Dome on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots were selected to finish third in the Preseason ASC East Division behind UT-Dallas and ETBU.

UT-Tyler is coming off a 3-2 loss at UT-Dallas, but defeated ETBU and LeTourneau prior to that contest. The Patriots are 9-3 overall and 3-0 in ASC play prior to Friday's contest with Mississippi College. Danika Waldrep leads the team with 157 kills, while Emily Wood as made 277 digs.

Centenary will travel to Abilene, Texas on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 for the "ASC Dig Pink Cross Over Challenge I" where it will play four games in two days against McMurry, Hardin Simmons, Concordia, and Howard Payne.
