Volleyball Falls Short in Five-Set Loss to UT-Tyler

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team took UT-Tyler to five sets, but would come up short, falling 3-2 in ASC play on Saturday afternoon in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies fell to 5-5 on the year, while the Patriots improved to 10-5 on the year with the win.

Centenary had a chance to seal the match early with a set one (25-21) and set three (25-18) win, but a set two (23-25) and set four (21-25) loss forced a decisive set five, which resulted in a 15-12 loss for the Ladies.

Junior middle blocker Shelby Singleton powered up a team-best 16 kills to pace the offensive attack, while freshman Brooke Bahlinger added 12 kills.

Sophomore setter Beth Nuttall contributd with 27 assists, while senior Caitlin Neese added 19.

Defensively, senior libero Taylor Gilmour made a match-high 32 digs, while Bahlinger and Neese notched their second consecutive double-double with 21 and 11 digs, respectively.

Singleton added three blocks and was part of five of Centenary's 12 block assists.

Centenary forced UT-Tyler into 29 errors, while committing 23 of its own.

Centenary will return to action next week when it travels to Abilene, Texas to take part in the ASC Dig Pink Cross-Over Challenge I. First meeting will be Friday, Sept. 30 at Noon against McMurry.
