SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team netted two first-half goals en route to a 2-1 victory over LeTourneau on Friday evening in ASC play.

The Gents improve to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference action.

Centenary junior Adam Ghaemmaghami recorded his first collegiate goal to put the Gents up 1-0 at the 13-minute mark after senior Ryan Christianson header to Ghaemmaghami's foot proved successful.

With two minutes left in the opening half, senior Ben Barcelona assisted freshman Brandon Heim's first collegiate goal to give Centenary a 2-0 advantage.

Strong defense and consistency on offense allowed Centenary to hold steady to its 2-0 lead until LeTourneau broke loose for a late goal at the 78-minute mark to make it a 2-1 game.

The final 12 minutes proved intense, but an all-around effort by the Gents gave way to ball control and a win.

Sophomore goal keeper Chase Duet recorded his first win at Centenary, collecting two saves.

Centenary fired off eight shots on goal, led by Ghaemmaghami with three. Senior Marcos Rodriguez added two.

"Our win is attributed to a total team effort and it is nice to see everyone on our squad contributing tonight," said head coach David Orr. "I am proud of the way we fought and impressed with the way LeTourneau battled in the end to make it a close game."

Centenary will wrap up the weekend with a 7 pm contest on Saturday against ETBU on Mayo Field.
