Maroon & White Intrasquad Proves Another Hit

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams showcased its talents in front of a home crowd in its annual Maroon & White Intrasquad on Saturday in Haynes Fitness Center. Maroon took the overall victory, 99-91.

As a combined unit, Centenary's Maroon squad edged the White team, 99 to 91. The Ladies' Maroon team defeated the White, 50 to 45, while the Gents' Maroon team captured the victory over the White, 49 to 46.

Alumni also took part in the annual event, helping their respective teams with solid performances.

Centenary produced an impressive showing in its home opener with two freshmen making the All-Time Top 10 List in their college debuts. Chelsea Russell's effort in the 200 Free moved her into 10th place, while Chris Kalmbach moved into 7th all-time in the 100 Breast.

On the women's side and winning their respective events was the 200 yard Medley Relay team of Lauren Lassiter, Brittany Wilkens, Aurora Owen, and Michelle Gaubert with a time of 1:54.80.

Lassiter earned top honors in the 50 yard Back (28.79) and the 100 yard Back (1:01.03). Freshman Russell notched first in the 200 yard Free (1:59.61). Wilkens placed first in the 100 yard Breast (1:09.47) and 50 yard Breast (32.12), while Gaubert notched first in the 50 yard Fly (27.81).

Rachel Olson earned first in the 200 yard IM (2:14.11), while Laura Huning won the 100 yard Fly (1:00.66) and 50 yard Free (25.50). The 200 yard Free Relay of Huning, Olson, Cassie Cloutet and Allison Jones wrapped up the Ladies relay events in first with a time of 1:43.01.

On the men's side, Austin Butler captured first in the 50 yard Back (25.88) and the 50 yard Breast (28.55). Anthony LeBlanc grabbed first in the 200 yard Free (1:47.50), while Kalmbach earned first in the 100 yard Breast with a time of 1:01.05.

Devin Ross took first in the 50 yard Fly (23.02), while Ross Olivier won the 100 yard Back (54.39). The 200 yard Medley Relay team of Josh Scott, Kalmbach, Ross, and Butler won in 1:37.02, while 200 yard Free Relay team of LeBlanc, Caleb McSorley, Henry and Olivier captured top honors in 1:28.57.
