Volleyball Dominates in 3-0 Sweep of LETU

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team used a balanced effort to dominate LeTourneau in a 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-18) sweep as well as picking up its first home ASC win of 2011 on Tuesday evening in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies won their third straight match to improve to 8-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play. It has been since Oct. 13, 2009 that Centenary has picked up a sweep in the Gold Dome.

Out attacking LeTourneau, Centenary fired off a .234 attack percentage on 40 kills. The Ladies were led by junior middle blocker Shelby Singleton with 13 kills, followed by freshman Brooke Bahlinger with 10 and senior Jaclyn Lopez with nine.

Senior Caitlin Neese continued her strong play at setter, dishing off a match-high 36 assists. Freshman Sarah Sumner and Lopez each contributed to the offense with two service aces.

Defensively, senior libero Taylor Gilmour made 14 digs, followed by Lopez with 10.

Centenary forced LeTourneau into 24 errors, while limiting their mistakes to just 14 through three sets. The Ladies' best set came in a 14-kill, three error set one, where they hit .464 to LeTourneau's .097.

Centenary will return to play this weekend when it travels to Marshall, Texas to take part in the ASC Dig Pink Cross-Over Challenge II. The Ladies are set to face Schreiner on Friday at 2:30 pm.
