Ladies Continue Home Dominance with 4-0 Shutout over MCM

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's soccer team continued its home ASC dominance, remaining unbeaten in conference play on Mayo Field with a 4-0 shutout over McMurry on Thursday afternoon.

The Ladies improved to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play and have won three straight.

Junior Courtney Cleveland netted two goals in the victory, while junior scoring leader Holden Penney and senior Laura Immenschuh each contributed with a goal scored.

Penney put Centenary on board early with a goal at the 4-minute mark on an assist by Immenshuh. It wasn't six minutes later that junior Allie Cortes found Immenschuh on a long feed that found the bottom left corner to put Centenary up 2-0 heading into halftime.

Early in the final 45 minutes of play, junior Traci Lee's pass found the foot Cleveland for her first goal of the game to give the Ladies a 3-0 advantage. Centenary would continue its scoring dominance with one final successful ball off the foot of Cleveland, assisted by senior Candace Rushing at the 63rd-minute mark.

Freshman goal keeper Brittaney Dunn picked up her eighth win of the season and another shutout after collecting four saves in goal.

Centenary fired off an impressive 26 shots, 17 landing on goal. Penney and Cleveland each tallied six shots, five on goal, while Immenschuh had three, two on goal.

The Ladies also tallied seven shots to McMurry's one.

Centenary will return to action on Saturday when it welcomes defending National Champion Hardin-Simmons to Mayo Field at 4 pm. Live stats are available free of charge on GoCentenary.com.
