Volleyball to Honor Four Seniors; Host UMHB on Saturday

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will honor its four seniors on Saturday when it host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 pm in the Gold Dome in its final home contest of the 2011 season.

The Ladies rode a seven-game win streak until ETBU's 3-2 win snapped the streak on Tuesday evening. However, despite the loss, Centenary holds an impressive 12-8 record and 8-7 mark in ASC play.

Offensively, junior Shelby Singleton leads the team with 271 kills and a .502 attack percentage. Senior Caitlin Neese has made 606 assists, while senior Taylor Gilmour paces with defense with 292 digs.

TO HONOR SENIORS
Centenary will honor seniors: Taylor Gilmour, Jaclyn Lopez, Caitlin Neese, and Kayla Tibaldo on Saturday following the afternoon match.

TAYLOR GILMOUR
Stuart, FL - 3L - Libero

Gilmour is playing in her third and final season at Centenary. She will graduate with a double-major in psychology and sociology and a minor in religious studies. Gilmour has proven herself both on the volleyball court and off while at Centenary, serving as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President, Panhellenic Council Vice President, Theta Alpha Kappa Vice President , Philanthropy Chair of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and Maroon Jackets.

On the court and in her three-year career, Gilmour has played in 171 total sets, making 470 digs, including a team-best 292 this season. She has also contributed with 57 service aces, leading the team with 23 so far this year. Balancing academics and athletics, Gilmour has been named to Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence to the Fall Academic All-League team.

Following graduation, she plans to earn a Masters degree in public policy and a Doctorate of Law.

JACLYN LOPEZ
Mission, TX - 4L - OH

Lopez will graduate with a degree in communication and visual culture and has plans on working for a casino or in the film industry.

She has played four full years in a Centenary uniform and will wrap up her career with impressive offensive and defensive numbers. Having played both setter and outside hitter in 257 total sets played, Lopez has tallied 400 kills, 1344 assists and 847 digs. She also has collected 103 service aces and 80 block assists. This season, she is second-best on the team with 203 kills and 211 digs. Lopez ranks in the Top 10 all-time at Centenary in assists, digs and service aces.

Off the court, Lopez was named to the Fall Academic All-Summit League team and was a member of RHA.

CAITLIN NEESE
Grapevine, TX - 3L - Setter

Neese will graduate with a degree in psychology and has plans on attending graduate school for occupational therapy. Completing her third year on the Ladies volleyball team, Neese has also shared her time with several organizations, having served on Maroon Jackets, a part of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Order of Omega.

On the court, Neese has been a steady offensive force at the setter position, racking up solid numbers in her final season. In her career, she has played in 179 sets, tallied 1159 assists and 289 digs to accompany 73 kills and 32 service aces. She currently has tallied 606 assists this season alone. Neese ranks in the Top 10 all-time in assists.

Off the court, Neese has been named to the Dean's List and was a two-time Summit League Fall Academic All-League and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence recipient.

KAYLA TIBALDO
Santa Fe, TX - 4L
 

Tibaldo has been a part of the Ladies volleyball program all four years and has provided Centenary with strong work ethic off the court as well. Tibaldo will graduate with a degree in psychology and a minor in religious studies.

Away from volleyball, Tibaldo was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Order of Omega, Maroon Jackets and served as the Student Government Association (SGA) senator since 2010. She was the 2010 BIG Event Student Director and 2009 BIG Event Site Coordinator, while also serving on the Orientation Leadership Team the past two years.

Tibaldo received the President's Award from Centenary and was a member of the Dean's List and Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence and Fall Academic All-League team.

On the court, Tibaldo has played in 155 sets and tallied 354 digs and 27 service aces.

Following graduation, Tibaldo looks to volunteer in India for several months before attending nursing school.
