Ladies Draw 1-1 Tie at UT-Tyler
Friday, October 14, 2011

TYLER, Texas-The Centenary women's soccer team scored first, but a very late UT-Tyler goal tied the game at 1-1 as the two teams drew a double-overtime tie on Thursday evening in ASC play.

The Ladies are now 8-5-1 overall and 6-2-1 in ASC play.

Playing through a 0-0 first half stalemate, Centenary junior Holden Penney put the Ladies on the board first with a goal at the 70-minute mark on an unassisted shot that found the back of the net. Penney continues to pace the Centenary offense with her eighth goal of the season.

Centenary saw itself in good shape as time dwindled away, but the Patriots found a way with just two minutes left on the clock at the 88-minute mark to tie the game off the foot of Julie Wiliams.

With that goal, the game was sent into overtime as both teams held each other in check, forcing a final 1-1 draw, the first tie for both teams all season.

Centenary goal keeper Brittaney Dunn was solid in goal, tallying nine saves and playing all 110 minutes of action.
Centenary was outshot 25 to 7 as Penney led the Ladies with three shots, two on goal and junior Courtney Cleveland managed two shots, one on goal.

Centenary will travel to Austin, Texas to take on Concordia (TX) at Vandegrift High School on Saturday. Game time is slated for 5:30 pm.
