Gym Talk: Amanda Holt
Thursday, October 20, 2011
Hey Everybody! I'm Amanda Holt, a junior on the gymnastics team and man it is hard to believe I'm getting old. I'm going to update you all on what the Ladies have been up to in the last week.

The past few weeks have been stressful on a lot of gymnasts because of midterms. We're all striving for excellence so we were thankful when Wednesday came around because it was FALL BREAK and no school until Monday! Because of the break a lot of the gymnasts left to go see family and friends and to continue their hard work in the gym at home (and to impress their old coaches with all of their new and improved skills!).  I myself stayed on campus with five other gymnasts and we worked hard on gymnastics Friday morning. We were doing some pretty awesome stuff! Natalie learned a front lay lay, and Steph was working hard on beam getting her new dismount, we got a lot accomplished Friday morning and it felt good to do gymnastics!

On Saturday the admissions office held an athletic day for recruits to come see our campus, meet with coaches, and talk to students on a one-on-one basis to see what life is like here at Centenary. Meg, Lauren, Melody and I helped out. Meg and I talked to recruits about life on campus as a student-athlete and what we liked about the school. Melody and Lauren joined us later to talk to the gymnastics recruits in small groups.  When we were able to split off into small groups with our recruits and show them where we work out on campus. We showed them the GOLD DOME! Where we compete as a Lady! We had a lot of fun with our recruits and we hope the best for them.

Saturday was also a big day for Volleyball as it was their senior night. It was the last home game for the season, so the gymnasts that stayed on campus for fall break decided to support our fellow Ladies! It was nice to see the seniors play their last game at home, but it was especially fun because they won! 3 games in a row which gave them the win! Go Ladies!!

However fall break is at its end and its back to hard work and perseverance so we can reach our goals of a 3.4 GPA and reach our goals and landmarks in the gym!

Stay tuned to hear about what goes on next week with your wonderful Ladies!!
