Preview: Volleyball Begins Final Road Tour

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will begin its final road tour of the season when it travels to UT-Tyler on Friday for a 7 pm match and UT-Dallas on Saturday for a 2 pm start in ASC play.

The Ladies are coming off one of their best overall performances of the season on Senior Day last Saturday when they produced a 3-0 sweep over Mary Hardin-Baylor in the Gold Dome. Centenary improved its record to 13-8 overall and 9-7 in conference action.

Centenary is out hitting its opponents, .236 to .174 this season, led by junior middle blocker Shelby Singleton's .506 attack percentage and 290 kills. Senior Jaclyn Lopez is second-best with 205 kills, followed by freshmen Brooke Bahlinger's 181 and Sarah Sumner's 106.

Senior setter Caitlin Neese has tallied 646 assists, while senior Taylor Gilmour has collected 26 service aces. Defensively, Gilmour has made 311 digs, followed by Lopez wit 221.

UT-Tyler holds a 17-9 overall record and is coming off of two wins over LeTourneau and ETBU this last week. The Patriots edged Centenary 3-2 in five sets in the Gold Dome back on Sept. 24. UT-Tyler is currently led offensively by Danika Waldrep with 352 kills and Madison Kosir with 582 assists. Emily Woods tallies a tea-best 600 digs.

UT-Dallas will meet Mississippi College on Friday before hosting Centenary on Saturday. The Comets enter Friday's match with an 18-4 record and a 4-0 record at home. UT-Dallas defeated Centenary, 3-1 on Sept. 23 in the Gold Dome. The Comets are led offensively by Dana Hilzendager's 256 kills, while Hayden Higgens leads with 547 assists. Amy Gunter paces the squad with 374 digs.

Centenary will wrap up ASC play on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Mississippi College with a match-start at 6 pm.
