Ladies Notch 5-1 Victory in Final Game of 2011

CLARKSVILLE, Ark.-The Centenary women's soccer team used a hat trick effort by junior Holden Penney in a 5-1 victory over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon in its final game of the 2011 season.

The Ladies notched their 10th win of the year, improving their record to 10-8-1 overall.

Penney scored three goals to lead the Ladies as the Laguna Beach, California native finished the year with 13 goals, a team-high.

Also scoring for Centenary were junior Kelly Fossard, her second and Courtney Cleveland, her sixth goal. Picking up assists on the afternoon were Penney, Fossard, Cleveland and senior Eren Corapcioglu.

Freshman goal keeper Brittaney Dunn collected her 10th win of the year, playing all 90 minutes in goal and wrapping up the year playing a total of 1,764 minutes and every minute of every game this season.

The Ladies secured their second-best winning season in the last seven years as the 2009 squad finished 11-6-1 under former head coach Chase Wooten.

The Ladies will host an Alumni Game on Saturday, Nov. 5 directly following the Gents, which begin at 2 pm on Mayo Field as part of the 2011 Fall Homecoming Festivities.
