Gents Finish Season with 13 Wins on Six Straight
Sunday, October 30, 2011
CLARKSVILLE, Ark.-The Centenary men's soccer team recorded its sixth straight win, fifth straight shutout and fourth straight 1-0 victory and 13th win of the year in a 1-0 win over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon in its final game of the 2011 season.

The Gents finished the season 13-3-1, its most successful season since 2002 and first under head coach David Orr.
It was a goal at the 84-minute mark by senior RB Asenime, his third of the year, assisted by senior Ben Barcelona that gave way to a Centenary victory.

Junior goal keeper Robbie Ramirez collected six saves to record his 12th win of the year and ninth shutout, which includes the last five in a row.

Ozarks out shot Centenary 15 to 11, but it was the game-winner by Asenime that proved most important. Senior scoring leader Marcos Rodriguez tallied four shots, two on goal to pace the Gents, while Barcelona added three shots, one on goal. Also contributing was junior John Seat with one shot on goal and seniors Ryan Christianson and Aaron Bergman each with a shot.

Centenary held its own on the defensive end as Ozarks posted 11 corner kicks to the Gents' five.

The last time the Gents finished with a winning season was in 2002 with a record of 14-5 under head coach Jed Jones. The 2011 team was one win shy of tying that record, but posted six straight wins, only the second time since 2002.

The Gents will host an Alumni Game on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 pm on Mayo Field part of the 2011 Fall Homecoming Festivities.
