Swimming Shows Well at Trinity Shootout

SOUTHLAKE, Texas-The Centenary swimming teams used strong relay performances and several top finishes to wrap up the Trinity Shootout with a dominating showing. The Ladies secured a second-place finish with 847.5 points, while the Gents finished third with 786.5 points.

The Ladies put together arguably the best overall performance of the year with three first place relay times and 14 Top 3 finishes.

The 200 yard Free Relay team of Chelsea Russell, Michelle Gaubert, Laura Huning, and Allison Jones captured first with a time of 1:40.29, while the 400 Medley Relay team of Russell, Brittany Wilkens, Hayley Schneider, and Huning also captured first in 4:08.71. Wrapping up a solid relay day was a top 400 yard Free Relay finish, swam by Schneider, Russell, Gaubert, and Huning in 3:40.85.

Taking first individually was Wilkens in the 200 yard Breast in 2:32.49 and Julie Hughes in the 200 yard Fly in 2:12.90.

Capturing the women's team title was host-Trinity with 869.5 points. Behind Centenary in third was UT-Permian Basin with 605 points.

Gents' Devin Ross dominated the field with four first-place finishes. The senior captured first in the 50 yard Free (20.52), 100 yard Fly (51.64), 200 yard Fee (1:46.16) and the 100 yard Free (46.57) to pace Centenary in scoring.

Also earning first place was Ross Olivier in the 100 yard Back (54.63), while the 200 yard Free Relay team of Peter Henry, Austin Butler, Anthony LeBlanc, and Devin Ross took first with a 1:25.09 time and the 400 yard Free Relay team of the same four took first in 3:09.93.

Centenary will take part in the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Invite on December 1-3 in Little Rock, Ark.
