CLINTON, Miss. – Reggie Salvatore produced a 2-for-3 effort in game two of Friday’s American Southwest Conference softball doubleheader, but the Centenary offense couldn’t overcome Mississippi College’s pitching efforts as the Choctaws swept the day’s doubleheader, 3-0, 6-0.

The Ladies fall to 5-32 and 3-21 in ASC play heading into Saturday’s doubleheader to close the season. The first leg begins at noon. Mississippi College improves to 24-14 overall.

Salvatore accounted for two of the Ladies three hits in the nightcap as Kim Mason (9-7) tossed a complete game to garner the win. Lynsi Unruh dropped to 5-15 with a complete-game effort, scattering 11 hits in six innings.

Mississippi College jumped on top 2-0 after the first two innings before extending the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. A two-run fifth and a single run in the sixth finished the scoring. The Choctaws were led offensively by Brooke Smitherman, who went 3-for-3.

Lauren Swift accounted for the Ladies lone hit in game one as the Choctaws scored two of their three runs in the first inning. MC scored their only other run in the third.

Sierra Bailey (0-9) put the Ladies in a situation to win, but received no offensive support as Courtney Nunn (10-5) kept the Ladies bats at bay in the complete-game win. She fanned six and walked one.
