SHREVEPORT – After one of its most successful seasons in nearly a decade, the Centenary gymnastics program isn’t wasting any time to reload for next year.

Head coach Jackie Fain announced the commitment of Stephanie Strickler, a 5-foot  freshman who will join the Ladies next spring.

“I’m very excited about her coming,” Fain said. “I think she has potential all around her and will definitely come in and help us in several events. She’s a great fit for the team and the Centenary program.”

Strickler, who will be a freshman in the fall, hails from Kingsport, Tenn., where she attended Dobyns-Bennett High School. Strickler holds a 3.879 grade point average, boasting an impressive extra-curricular resume. She’s a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and My Alpha Theta, and is a TN/VA Scholar.

Strickler is a member of the Meadowview Gymnastics Academy in Kingsport, where she learned under Kristin Lemons. The incoming freshman has been a member of the Academy of 11 years. That helped her become a Level 9 Regional Qualifier in 2008 and 2009 and was a Level 9 Eastern National Qualifier in 2009. She qualified for Level 10 Regionals in 2010 and 2012, along with Level 10 NIT in the same years.

Her plans at Centenary include obtaining a degree in Special Education and working with children to help them develop life skills and reach their full potential.
