Hey y’all, this is Christy Martinez to give you this week’s Gym Talk! I’m a senior this year…where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was a freshman. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!

It has been an awesome week in the gym! It’s great to be able to see everyone so self-motivated and working hard to get new skills or perfect old ones to be ready for meet season! This Sunday we had another theme day. This time we dressed up as nerds! It was fun to see everyone come dressed up in their nerdiest clothes. This Sunday’s class was also our first gymnastics landmark day as well as our first fitness test. Everyone made their landmarks and we are now working for the next landmark day. The fitness test is a great way for us to be able to see where we stand with our strength and endurance so we are better able to condition. Now we can set goals for ourselves to improve in our weak areas and when the next fitness test comes, we will be ready to show how hard we have worked!

Also this week some of the girls went to support our fellow Ladies at the volleyball game. We love being able to support the other teams on campus and cheer them on to victory!

Our second recruit also came into town for a few days. I love being able to hang out and get to know possible future Centenary Ladies! This particular recruit came from fellow senior Meg Crowley’s club gym. She was able to watch some of the girls at open gym on Friday morning, hang out with us all day, and some of the girls took her down to the soccer house to socialize with fellow Centenarians.

Towards the end of this week one of our alumni, Melody Smith, welcomed into the world her baby son, Razi. He was born on 9/13 at 9:13 a.m! It seems that the number 13 was quite a lucky number this time. Both mother and baby are healthy and we are all very excited for her and can’t wait to watch him grow up. All his ‘aunties’ will definitely spoil him and Mel will have an endless number of babysitters when she needs one.

Stay tuned for next week’s edition of Gym Talk to learn about what exciting things your Centenary Ladies will be up to!
