COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior libero Jesi Wilcox can continue to climb Centenary’s single-season digs list as the Ladies take on Southwestern University Friday in the first round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

Centenary (2-29, 0-10) lost two matches to Southwestern (22-10, 7-3) in the regular season, both 3-0, but is fresh off a sweep over Bridgewater State at the Rhodes Tournament last weekend. The Ladies and Pirates are slated to play Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Live stats and video are available on the Ladies volleyball schedule page.

“It’s great that we’re entering the tournament after a win last weekend,” head coach Jon Stenman said. “We didn’t start that weekend how we planned, but the girls kept their resolve and remained focus and put together a sweep over Bridgewater. Hopefully that momentum will carry over to Friday’s match and we can come out with a win.”

Wilcox needs 89 more digs to own sole possession of second place and has at least three more matches to reach that mark. The Mobile, Ala., native averaged more than seven digs per set last weekend.

“Jesi had an incredible weekend last week and has really been the epitome of a team leader,” Stenman said. “Since we’ve had a rough season, it’s really a testament to her maturity and leadership of the composure and poise she’s maintained over the last few months. She’s a special player.”

The winner of Friday’s match will advance to No. 2 Trinity at 7 p.m. Friday night while the loser will play Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. against the loser of No. 4 Austin College and No. 5 Dallas.
