SHREVEPORT -  Centenary’s Austin Butler and Michelle Gaubert were named this week’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s and women’s Swimmers of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Both put up excellent numbers in the home meet last weekend against Hendrix and Austin College, giving Centenary two wins on each side

Austin Butler took first overall in the men’s 200-yard freestyle with a 1:49:51 time. His effort in both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard free style helped Centenary gather three of its 13 first-place finishes.

Butler led Centenary with an individual time of 21.87 to give the Gents first place on the event with a 1:41.24 score.

Butler (22.43) also contributed to the men’s 200 yard freestyle relay with the fastest time, which won with the team swimming at a 1:41.24 mark.

Gaubert helped lead Centenary to victory. She had a 25.76 mark in the 50-yard freestyle that gave her one of her two first-place finishes on the day. Her other one came on the 100-yard butterfly, which she swam with a 1:02.36 mark.

Her effort on the 200-yard medley relay helped Centenary capture first on the event as the team combined with a 1:55.74 finish.

The Ladies and Gents return to action Nov. 16-17 at the Trinity Invitational Shootout.
