SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary softball team dropped both games on Friday at the Centenary Softball Complex. The Ladies (0-4) fell to Millsaps in the first contest 10-2 and then late that afternoon to Louisiana College 8-0.

The Maroon and White jumped on the board early with an RBI sacrifice fly by Cadie Hancock, plating Jessica McDonald. McDonald reached on a walk and moved into scoring position on a Lauren Swift double.

Millsaps quickly erased the lead with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and extended the margin with another in the second for a 3-1 advantage. A seven-run, fourth inning is what would haunt the Ladies as two errors also led to some misfortune. A three-run homer by Megan Yglesi capped the Majors huge offensive day.

Swift smashed the Ladies’ first home run of the season, as her 2-for-2 performance contributed to the Ladies’ six hits on the day. Hancock, Whitney Pearson, and Lynsi Unruh all had a hit as well.

Unruh (0-3) took the loss allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on eight hits in four innings of play.

In the second game, Meagan Pearson put Louisiana College up early with a three-run homer in the first inning. A four-run, third inning expanded the gap for the Wildcats.

Meggie Burkett went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI at the plate for LC while Stephanie Jaeger had two hits and an RBI in the win.

Leslie Eastham (1-0) earned the victory going four innings and allowing zero runs on one hit. Nancy Bunting also tossed a scoreless inning en route to the victory.

Centenary continues play in the Round Robin tournament Saturday against LeTourneau at 11 a.m. and Millsaps at 3 p.m.
