SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary softball team returns to action on a short road trip Wednesday to take on Southeastern Louisiana University for a non-conference matchup beginning at 6 p.m. It’s a quick turnaround for the Ladies as they host Jackson State the next day at 7 p.m.

On Monday, the Ladies fell in a doubleheader to Hendrix College 8-1 and 8-7. A seven run fifth inning doomed the Maroon and White in game one, but game two saw a season-high in runs and hits.

A six run fifth inning rallied the Ladies to its second lead on the contest, but HC would score three unanswered runs over the final two innings to claim the sweep. Whitney Patterson, Lauren Swift, Jessica McDonald, and Abbie Woods all collected multi-hit games with two.

Swift continues to lead all batters in hitting with a .447 average and is second in homeruns and runs batted in with two and five respectively. Cadie Hancock is hitting .271 on the season and leads the Maroon and White with three homeruns and 10 RBI. Lynsi Unruh enters Wednesday’s game with a .320 batting average following Swift.

Southeastern Louisiana University (16-8) enters play having taken three of four on last week’s road trip. The Lady Lions last time out lost 10-2 to Houston Baptist on Sunday, being unable to complete a weekend sweep.

Jackson State (7-11) fell in an 11-7 game to University of Texas at El Paso on Sunday. The Tigers play at Northwestern State University Wednesday evening before traveling to the Centenary Softball Complex Thursday.
