SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary gymnastics team clinched a season-best team score and received a career-high from senior Meg Crowley, along with other highlights in the Midwest Independent Conference Championship on Saturday night. The Ladies (192.900) surpasses previous team best 191.625, with the closest last time being against Alaska Anchorage at the Gold Dome in February.

The University of Illinois-Chicago (195.600) won the meet, followed by Illinois State (195.425), and Southeast Missouri State (195.050) rounding up the top three finishers.

Crowley (39.100) notched third place in all-around scoring over 39.000 for the first time in her career. The Spring, Texas native was also named first team all-conference. Robyn Price (38.625) made second team all-conference.

The Ladies clinched team bests on three of the four apparatuses. Opening on vault (48.275), Price (9.800) led the team followed by season bests from Kellie Slater and Crowley with a 9.700 each. Jessica Lieblich (9.600) contributed with a nice score as well.

After a bye in rotation two, uneven bars (48.775) also was a season-high with five gymnasts scoring a 9.700 or higher for the Maroon and White. Price (9.825) led the way again tying for third place individually. Lieblich (9.775) and Crowley (9.725) picked up personal bests. Christy Martinez (9.725) added to the group and Amanda Holt (9.700), returning from an injury about a month ago, picked up a career-high.

Beam was a tough event for the Ladies; however, Crowley (9.775) and Tawnee Hadd (9.750) hit big routines for the Ladies. Hadd’s score was a season-high as well.

It was another event best on floor (48.850) that saw the Maroon and White conclude with six great routines. Crowley (9.875) hit another career-high and tied for first place, while Price (9.850) tied for fourth. Martinez (9.775) Lieblich (9.725), Stephanie Strickler (9.625), and Hadd (9.575) all added great finishes.

Centenary returns to action for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships hosted at the Gold Dome on Friday, Apr. 12-14.
