SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship play on Friday, Apr. 26 at 2 p.m. The third seeded Ladies (8-30) face second seed Southwestern in their first SCAC Championship appearance.

The Maroon and White closed out the regular season with four straight wins over the University of Dallas to surpass Austin College and clinch the three seed in the tournament.

Centenary dropped three straight meetings with the Pirates earlier this season at the Centenary Softball Complex after claiming the opening affair 10-7 over the then top team in the conference.

The Ladies split the season series with AC and were swept by Trinity in the remaining conference series of the season.

On the year Lauren Swift has led the Maroon and White at the dish. The senior from Beaumont, Texas is batting .412 on the season which ranks sixth in the conference. Swift is tied for fourth in the conference in homeruns with four on the season and is fifth in doubles with nine. In the final two outings of the season, she clinched the top spot on the squad in RBI with 19 leaving her just on the outside of the top 10 in the SCAC.

Nicole Warren joins her teammate among the conference’s leaders as the junior has swiped 11 bags this season which places her in a tie for fifth in the SCAC.

Lynsi Unruh and Lindsey Sconce rank eighth and ninth in the conference in ERA respectively for the Ladies. Unruh ranks fourth in the SCAC in wins after pitching the Maroon and White to its last four victories of the season. In the final outcome against Dallas, Unruh logged eight strikeouts to clinch 100 on the season while tossing a no-hitter against the Crusaders.
