SHREVEPORT, La. – The 2013 season for the Centenary women’s soccer team begins on Friday, Aug. 30 as the Maroon and White host East Texas Baptist at 5 p.m. The match is the first of nine of the Ladies at Mayo Field.

Shreveport’s Team claimed the first meeting between the two programs with a 2-1 overtime win in 2011 at Mayo Field.

The opener concludes a two-week preseason training camp for the Ladies. Centenary hosted the University of Texas at Tyler in an exhibition on Aug. 23 as part of the third annual Mayor’s Cup and March of Dimes Night at Mayo Field.

The top five scores return for the 2013 season for the Ladies led by Carly Slovensky and Madison Alexander. Slovensky scored a team-high seven goals a season ago with Alexander adding five. Senior Traci Lee returns for her final season. Lee, who will be depended on to anchor the Ladies’ defense, along with Alexander were named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Team last season.

Six freshmen are poised make their debut this season for the Maroon and White. The first-years are paired with eight Ladies who are in just their second season with the team.

Head coach Glenn Evans returns to guide the Maroon and White in 2013. The season marks the 43rd for the Centenary Hall of Fame member, who started both soccer programs at his alma mater and has compiled a 246-162-8 record.

Three of the top four goal scorers return for the Tigers in 2013 along with the top two defenders. Among the returners for the Blue and Gold are four All-Southwest Athletic Conference selections from a season ago. ETBU was tabbed to finish fifth in the ASC this season following a sixth place finish in 2012.
