Tough outings at UT-Tyler Invitational

TYLER, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 matches at the University of Texas at Tyler hosted Annual Invitational. The two losses set the Ladies back to 1-5 on the season. The squad returns to action tomorrow at Noon against Howard Payne University.

The Maroon and White fell to the host Patriots (12-25, 17-25, 16-25) to open the two-day event before closing out the opening day of the invite against Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-25, 12-25, 11-25).

Brooke Bahlinger led the squad with 12 kills during the two outings, including a team-best eight in the setback to UT-Tyler, coupled with 17 digs. Sarah Irons finished the two-match total with eight kills while Sarah Sumner added six kills along with a team-leading 20 digs. Rachel Perkins chimed in 15 digs – third most on the team.

Beth Nuttall paced the squad in assists totaling 29 during the two affairs while Kadija Diawara led the team with five blocks.

Centenary closes out the UT-Tyler Invitational at 4 p.m. tomorrow against East Texas Baptist.

Following the weekend, Centenary returns to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at LeTourneau. The match is set for 7 p.m.
