LONGVIEW, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a three-set match at LeTourneau on Wednesday evening (25-17, 26-24, 25-22). The Ladies fall to 1-8 on the season while LETU improves to 3-5 on the year.

Sarah Irons and Sarah Sumner led the squad with five kills apiece. Rachel Perkins paced a trio of Ladies in double-figure digs with 16. Beth Nuttall added 11 paired with 17 assists with 10 digs coming from Brook Bahlinger.

Irons and Lindsey Long each totaled two block assists.

The Ladies totaled 25 kills through the three sets with 56 digs and 24 assists.

After falling 25-17 in the first set, the Maroon and White held an 18-10 lead in the second set before LETU rattled off seven straight points to pull within one. The Ladies paused the rally before a second run placed the Jackets in front at 21-19. The two squads alternated points until Centenary reclaimed the lead 24-23, but the Blue and Gold ratted off the following three points to claim the set 26-24.

The third set saw the two teams exchange points, including a pair of ties – the last coming at 20-all before LETU claimed five of the final seven points to claim a 25-22 victory.  

Kayla Ronda and Dolores Kroese led the Yellowjackets with 11 kills each. Kroese added a team-best 24 digs. Alyssa Eden paced LETU with 14 assists with 10 coming from Sarah Krippner.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Sept. 20 as part of two-day tournament at the University of Dallas. The Ladies open against Colorado College at 6 p.m. The Maroon and White face the host Crusaders at 12:30 on Saturday before concluding with Austin College at 5 p.m.
