IRVING, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of contests on Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Group B Divisional. The Ladies fell 3-1 to the host University of Dallas before closing out the regional in a straight sets loss to Austin College.

Sarah Sumner led the squad with 31 kills and five blocks on the day. The junior also tallied 14 digs which was tied for third on the team with Beth Nuttall, who had a team-best 47 assists.

Brooke Bahlinger paced the Maroon and White with 22 digs while Chelsea Petska supplied 19 along with 13 from Rachel Perkins.

The Ladies claimed the opening set against the Crusaders in the first match of the day, 25-20, but the Blue and White claimed the following three sets to secure the win. Sumner led Centenary with 14 kills in the match.

In the nightcap of the divisional, the Roos picked up a 25-16 win in the opening set, but the Maroon and White rallied back in the second set before falling 27-25. AC closed out the match with a 25-17 victory to earn the straight set win. Sumer added a matched-best 17 kills in the effort.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 as the Ladies travel to East Texas Baptist. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
