SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-1 to East Texas Baptist on Tuesday evening in the Ladies (1-17) home opener.

The Maroon and White claimed the opening set of the match 25-20, but ETBU answered in the following two sets claiming 25-9 and 25-13 victories to take a 2-1 lead. Centenary battled with the Tigers in the fourth set, rallying from 24-14 before falling 25-19.

Beth Nuttall secured a career-high with 34 assists in the match surpassing her previous mark of 32 set earlier this season against Belhaven. Sarah Sumner led the Ladies with 13 kills on the night.

Defensively, Brooke Bahlinger recorded a team-best 23 digs in the match. The junior was one of three Ladies with double-digit digs as Sumner tallied 14 with 10 coming from Nuttall.

Kassie Freitag led the Blue and Gold with 11 kills in the contest. Hannah Jones totaled a team-best 20 digs for the Tigers leading a trio with double figures. Melanie Moyer and Nicole Buzzard each garnered 12 digs in the contest.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 2 as the Ladies host LeTourneau at 7 p.m.
