Gents finish tied for eighth at Millsaps Collegiate

JACKSON, Miss. – The Centenary men’s golf team finished tied for eighth at the Millsaps Collegiate with a two-day score of 636. The Gents fired a 322 in the final round to finish knotted with Mississippi College.

Reese Chance finished tied for 12th at the Maroon and White’s top golfer. Chance shot a second day score of 77 to conclude the event with a score of 155. Jamie Gibson finished one stroke back of Chance in a tie for 17th after a final day score of 76 – improving his stroke by four from the opening day.

Hank Strickler, the Gents leader after the opening day, fell back to 36th after shooting an 87 in the final round for a two-day total of 160. Larry Balthazar shot back-to-back score of 83 to finish tied for 49th with a score of 166 with Arni Sigurdsson finishing tied for 56th after an 86 in the final round for a total of 169.

Cumberland University claimed the team crown with a 594 for the two-day event. Blue Mountain College sat second with 616 and De Pauw in third three strokes back of BMC.

Austin Garrett of CU took the individual title with a two-day score of 141 with BMC’s Adam Hall and Belhaven’s Cody Reiber tied for second with a 146.
