SHREVEPORT, La. – Two first half goals proved the distance as the Centenary men’s soccer team earned its first win of the season with 2-1 decision over Dallas on Friday evening at Mayo Field.

Jeremy Klepsis and Chris Berrios tied Kellan Klaus for tops on the team as the duo scored the two goals for the Gents. Klepsis found the back of the net off an assist from Michael Pullano in the 11th minute of the contest.

The Maroon and White rode the 1-0 advantage until the 39th minute when Berrios took a corner kick from Zachary Kidder and headed into the goal for the second score of the night giving Centenary a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

Rylan Whan (1-7) grabbed the first win of his career in goal for the Gents. The freshman recorded three saves in the opening 45 minutes to claim the victory. Austin Andrews tallied two saves in the final 45 minutes paired with the lone, UD goal allowed.

The Crusaders lone score came in the 75th minute as Juan Hernandez-Reyes scored on an unassisted kick to pull the deficit to within a score, but the Blue and White couldn’t overcome the first half lead.

P.J. Hasson tallied six saves in the loss in net for UD as Barton Holdridge paced the Crusaders with five shots.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 27 as the Gents host Colorado College at 11 a.m. The team will honor its three seniors prior to the match.
