SHERMAN, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of contests at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional. The Ladies fell in straight sets against Trinity and Texas Lutheran in the opening day.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 27 against Southwestern (10 a.m.) and Schreiner (4 p.m.).

Sarah Sumner led the Ladies with a combined 16 kills in the two outings while Beth Nuttall dished out 37 total assists. Chelsea Petska paced the Maroon and White defensively with 21 combined digs, including a team-best 13 against TLU. Brooke Bahlinger led Centenary in kills against the Bulldogs with eight kills while recording 18 total digs, including a team-leading 11 in the opener against Trinity.

After a tightly-contested, first set against TLU the Black and Gold edged out Centenary 25-21 before taking the next two sets 25-15. The Tigers opened the cross-divisional with a 25-16, 25-8 and 25-17 victory.

Audrey Hazelwood paced TU with eight kills while Maryn Swierc added 15 assists. Layne Hubbard led the Black and Orange defensively with 12 digs.

Brette Threadgill led TLU with 10 kills in the three sets while Manda martin supplied 31 assists. Defensively, Savannah Erskine and Megan Lee each recorded double-figure digs with Lee leading the way with 15 while Erskine added 12.
