Ladies turn attention to SCAC Championship

SHREVEPORT, La. – For the first time since 2004, the Centenary women’s soccer takes to the pitch for postseason play as they face Texas Lutheran at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.

The conference tournament marks the final one for 40-plus year, veteran Glenn Evans, who will retire this season.

The Ladies used a 2-1, overtime win over Austin College last weekend to secure their spot in the tournament as Madison Alexander scored both goals for the Maroon and White earning her SCAC Offensive Player of the Week laurels. Alexander sits second on the team in goals (3) and leads the team in assists (4) and shots (30) this season.

Carly Slovensky paces the squad in goals (6) and points (12) while Amanda Atwell is tied with Alexander with three scores this season.

Defensively, Erica Coker has shined in her first year with the Maroon and White. The freshman has tallied 107 saves, which ranks second in the conference and most among freshmen. Coker also ranks second in save percentage with a 79.9-clip – also most among freshmen this season – is tied for third in shutouts with three.

TLU is led by one of the top goal scorers in the SCAC, Sioned Kirkpatrick, who has accumulated 17 goals to go with five assists for 39 total points. Freshman Maegan Idrogo adds eight goals – eighth in the conference - and two assists. In goal, Erin Rose finished fourth in the SCAC in saves with 87 and added four shutouts on the season – which is second in the league.
