Ladies, Gents win home meet over Austin College

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary swim teams claimed wins on Saturday in its only home meet of the 2013-14 season against Austin College. The Ladies out dueled AC 118-77 while the Gents picked up a 127-71 victory.

Rachel Olson claimed three event titles in the 100-yard butterfly (59.91), 100-yard freestyle (55.88) and as a member of the 200-yard medley relay along with Ashley Giffen, Chelsea Russell and Kayla Thornhill with a time of 1:57.04. Russell also picked up victories in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.95) and the 50-yard breaststroke (35.63).

Cameron Brandao and Kellen Bullock led the way for the men with three event crowns each as the duo teamed with Arash Ataei and Mitchell Foster in the 200-yard medley relay for the opening win of the day with a time of 1:41.23. Brandao then added wins in the 50-yard backstroke (26.25) and 100-yard backstroke (56.41). Bullock’s victories came in the 50-yard (29.48) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.84).

Michelle Gaubert and Giffen each added multiple event wins on the day. Giffen posted a time of 1:04.43 in the 100-yard backstroke to go along with her relay in the 200-medley relay. Gaubert notched wins in the 50-yard backstroke (29.15) and 50-yard freestyle (25.85).

Foster also added win for the Gents with a time of 49.79 in the 100-yard freestyle to pair with his team victory in the 200-medley relay.

Collin Baker (200-yard freestyle-1:57.79), Beau Montgomery (100-yard butterfly-53.27), Austin Butler (50-yard freestyle-20.91) and Adrew Borel (100-yard individual medley-57.15) rounded out wins for the Gents while Breana Williams (100-yard breaststroke-1:18.00) and Raquel Candal (500-yard freestyle-5:43.61) added wins for the Ladies.

Centenary turns its attention to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 12-15 in Rockwall, Texas.
