Hey Centenary Ladies fans!

Sophomore, Kellie Slater, here bringing you the latest news on your favorite gymnastics team! The past couple of weeks we have been working really hard in the gym on being determined, and we finally got to put our determination levels to the test as we traveled to TWU. We geared up and headed to Dallas last Saturday afternoon where we got to stay at our wonderful coach’s house, or as we call it, the mansion. A special thank you to the Reaux’s for having us over and cooking us an awesome lunch as we passed through! Once we got to the mansion we worked on a little team bonding by playing a couple of games our seniors came up with. We finished up the night by curling up with some homemade popcorn and a smoothie and watched the movie, Facing the Giants. For those of you who have never seen this movie before, I highly recommend it! It focuses on trust, faith, and believing in yourself; these are all things we have been working on throughout the year to help make us the best team we can be!

When we woke up on Sunday it was… MEET DAY! We did our normal pre-meet rituals like hair, make-up, and visualization. Finally it was time to get started; we began this meet on floor where we did absolutely awesome! We got our highest floor score of the year! Shout to Natalie Humbert on a career high 9.8 floor routine! Next we went to vault where Stephanie Strickler competed and landed her first Yurchenko full; way to go Steph!!  After vault was bars where once again we got our highest score of the season! We ended the meet on beam, which can sometimes be a struggle, but not for your Ladies! We closed out the meet with three hit beam routines and a season high, first place finish 9.725 from Robyn Price!! Another special shout out to Robyn Price on winning first place all around, awesome job Senior!

Overall, our team made a lot of improvements this weekend, our team score went up almost three points from our competition and we’re only going to continue to improve from here!

Stay tuned for next week’s Gym Talk coming to you from Steph!

Love,

Big Kel
