SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team fell in a doubleheader decision to the University of Dallas on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies dropped a hard fought, extra-inning outcome 4-2 in the second contest of the twinbill after falling 7-0 in the opener.

The Maroon and White pounded out a season-best 13 hits in the extra-inning affair as Mookie Allison paced the squad going 4-for-4 with a walk in the contest. The freshman finished the day collecting five hits in six trips to the dish.

Lysni Unruh drove in the Ladies’ pair of runs going 2-for-4 at the plate and tossed all nine innings while recording a career-high 11 strikeouts in her fourth loss of the season. The senior walks three in the setback and allowing four runs on 13 hits in the contest.

Nicole Warren and Amber Smith each logged multiple hit efforts with two hits each.

Centenary jumped on the board first plating both its run in the first inning as Unruh’s single pushed Lizzie Moran and Laura Perilloux across the dish. UD answered back in the third frame with a pair of runs of its own.

The two teams remained deadlocked until the top of the ninth when Ashley Pickert singled to left field to score Lyda Tesauro and Avery Finch. The Ladies attempted a rally in the bottom half of the frame, but left the tying runs stranded on the bases.

In the opener, Centenary was kept off balance registering just two hits. Erin Crites joined Allison as the only two Ladies to register base hits in the contest.

The Blue and White plated a run in its first trip to the plate. The Crusaders then placed a pair of runs on the board in the fourth, sixth and seventh to insure the contest.

Perilloux (0-6) pitched 5.1 innings allowing three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Unruh tossed the final 1.2 frames in relief and allowed four runs on five hits.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, March 9 against Dallas. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
