SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team fell in non-conference play to Westminster (Mo.) College on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays (7-3) claimed the first game of the doubleheader 12-2 before handing the Ladies (2-16) an 8-0 setback in the night cap.

Erin Crites paced the Maroon and White at the dish going 3-for-5 in the twinbill including a two-hit performance in the opener. Whitney Patterson and Mookie Allison combined to drive in the Ladies’ only two runs of the afternoon.

Lynsi Unruh (2-8) took both losses in the circle allowing a combined 12 runs on 14 hits in 6.0 innings of work. The senior fanned four batters including three in the second outing and walked four. Laura Perriloux tossed the remaining 5.0 frames allowing eight runs on 17 hits in total for the twinbill.

The Blue Jays opened the first contest scoring eight runs in their first five trips to the plate. The Ladies chipped into the lead recording their two runs on RBI singles from Patterson and Allison. WC answered back in the top of sixth with fours to conclude the effort.

Brittany Lee took the win in the circle for WC pitching the complete game with two runs allowed on seven hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

In the second affair, Centenary was held to just three hits in the five innings as Nicole Warren, Allison and Crites each collected a hit.

The Jays scored two runs in their first at-bat and added another in the second inning before ripping off four runs in the fourth and concluding the scoring with a run in the fifth. The biggest hit of the contest for WC came in the fourth as Rai’an Harris sent a shot clearing the left center wall to score three runs and capping the Jays’ biggest scoring inning.

Alyson Hahn tossed the complete game for the win with three strikeouts and three walks.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, March 29 as the Ladies travel to Austin College for a four-game, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series. First pitch of both doubleheaders this weekend are slated for Noon starts.
