SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team was swept by Trinity University in its Saturday doubleheader. The Ladies (5-23. 5-11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell 10-2 in the opener before dropping the second contest 8-0.

Lizzie Moran collected two of the team’s nine hits for the twinbill to lead the Maroon and White. Emma Viskozki drove in the only RBI for the squad resulting the Ladies’ second run of the first contest.

Lynsi Unruh (5-12) tossed 11.2 frames on the afternoon gathering both decisions in the circle. Unruh allowed 18 runs on 33 hits with seven walks and three strikeouts. Laura Perriloux tossed 1.1 frames surrendering two hits.

After trailing 3-0 early, Centenary plated its first run of the day in the bottom of the second as Cadie Hancock scored on a TU error that allowed Abbie Woods to reach base. The Tigers answered with three runs in the third inning to extend their lead to 6-1.

Centenary responded in the bottom of the fourth as Viskozki recorded a two-out, single to gather the only Ladies’ RBI of the game scoring Hancock. Trinity grabbed the run back in the fifth and added three insurance runs in the sixth to log the opening victory.

Katie Castillon (8-7) took the complete-game win in the circle for TU allowing eight hits in the affair with a walk and a strikeout.

In the second contest, Kaci Wellik pitched seven scoreless innings in the complete-game, one hit outing. The Tiger hurler also fanned five. Centenary’s lone hit in the contest came from Moran.

The TU bats supplied 20 hits on their way to eight runs in the game as seven hitters logged multiple hits. The Tigers also capitalized on three, Centenary miscues en route to the run total.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Apr. 11 as the Ladies travel to SCAC leader Texas Lutheran for a pair of doubleheaders.
