SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary volleyball coach Caley Carter announced that Desiree Frey and Allison Lazewski completed the necessary paperwork and deposit with intent to attend Centenary College of Louisiana. Both natives of the Lone Star State, Lazewski comes to Centenary from Dallas while Frey hails from Garland.

“Allison and Desiree have a special connection since they have played club together for a few years which will help them on the court for us not only as freshmen but throughout their volleyball careers here at Centenary,” said Carter. “Since our setter (Beth Nuttall) this season was a senior, Allison will be stepping into a demanding role as a freshman setter.  I think she has the attitude that it takes to play right away as a freshman, as that can be a lot of pressure for some. This spring season we have worked a lot on generating power and gaining strength in order to put more power into our offense. Desiree already has that power, which is a huge asset not only for our team, but also for someone her size as she is a smaller hitter. ”

Frey has been a four-year honor roll student throughout her high school career at Lakeview Centennial and was nominated for the National Youth Leadership Forum in Careers in Medicine. She was a member of multiple silver and gold medal regional teams over her seven-year club volleyball career and was named one of the Best AAU Athletes in 2011. She plans to major in Business.

Lazewski was a First Team All-District performer while also earning District Most Valuable Setter honors. She was a member of four consecutive district championship teams during her career at Woodrow Wilson High School where she will be graduating with honors.
