SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary volleyball team concluded the first of two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisionals with straight set losses to Trinity University and Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon.

For the second consecutive day, Rachel Perkins led the Ladies (2-15, 0-7 SCAC) offensive attack as the junior totaled 23 kills over the two matches. Perkins tallied nine kills in the opener against Trinity and followed with 14 kills in the finale against the Pirates.

Allison Lazewski dished out 42 assists on the day posting 21 in each match.

A trio of Ladies posted double-digit digs in the two matches. Desiree Frey tallied 12 digs to lead the defensive unit in the opening contest against Trinity while Lindsey Long posted a team-best 11 against Southwestern while Haley Cubberly added 10 digs in the outing.

The Maroon and White went toe-to-toe in the match with TU being nipped 25-20 and 25-22 in the first and third sets respectively, despite falling 25-12 in the second set of the contest.

The Ladies fought valiantly in the opening set with the Black and Gold before falling 25-17. The Pirates claimed the match winning the final two sets 25-11, 25-11.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7 as they travel to Jarvis Christian. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
