GEORGETOWN, Texas – For the fourth time this season the Centenary men’s soccer team used extra time to decide a contest this time falling 1-0 to Southwestern University in overtime on Sunday afternoon. The outing moves Centenary to 4-4-2 overall and 1-4-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

After the Maroon and White and Pirates battled through 90-scoreless minutes of action, Andres Carreno-Mende posted the lone goal of the day in the 96’ to lift SU to 5-6 on season and 5-2 in conference play.

Centenary attempted seven shots on the day including four on goal. Gabriel Zahm and Jeremy Klespis each recorded two shots to lead the squad. Kellan Klaus, Hunter Paul and Jason Aiken all had attempts in the outing.

Rylan Whan suffered the loss in goal for the Gents. Whan recorded five saves in the contest.

Carreno-Mende paced SU with six shots on the day before registering the game-winner. The Pirates tok 20 shots in the contest including six on target.

Travis Carmichael tallied four saves in the winning effort.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 10 as they host No. 3 Trinity. Kick is slated for 6 p.m.
