SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s soccer team fell 8-2 to No. 3 Trinity University on Friday evening. Centenary moves to 4-5-2 overall and 1-5-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action while the Tigers improve to 12-1 and remain unblemished in conference play.

After the Gents held their own with the nationally touted conference foe through the opening 45 minutes, TU put together a strong second stanza scoring five of eight goals in the final 45 minutes as Trinity picked up scores from five different players.

Tom Carwile scored the first goals of the contest both coming under 20 minutes in the outing. Johnny Lawson added a score in the 19’ to extend the lead to 3-0, but the Maroon and White weren’t to be outdone on its home turf. Ivann Amaya notched a goal in the 22’ to cut the deficit to two scores. Just before the half, Dillon Rogers recorded his first goal of the season to narrow the lead to a score at the break.

Kellan Klaus led the Gents with three shots on the evening as Jason Aiken and Rogers each supplied two attempts each. Amaya added the only other shot of the evening for Centenary.

Rylan Whan (3-4-1) tallied 11 saves in goal for the Gents in the loss in goal while Chad Margotta (1-0) recorded two saves in the complete-match win.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 12 as they host Southwestern. Kick is slated for 12 p.m.
