SHREVEPORT, La. – A Texas Lutheran goal in the 99’ spoils the Centenary women’s soccer team’s Senior Day as the Ladies (1-17, 0-11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fall 2-1 in overtime. TLU improved to 8-8-1 on the season and 7-4 in conference action.

Taylor Vatuna took a shot of deflection and placed the golden goal in the back of the net to end the Maroon and White’s bid for its first conference win.

Centenary, which took six shots in the contest, jumped out to an early lead as Hannah Bate scored her first goal of the season. The junior’s score came in the 19’ off an assist from Madison Alexander – marking her first assist on the campaign.

The Ladies lead held through the remainder of the first half and until the 57 minute as Marisol Ramos knotted the game at 1-all off an assist from Sioned Kirkpatrick. The two squads held even the remainder of regulation and much of the extra session until Vatuna’s score.

Marissa Hughes took a team-leading two of the Ladies’ six attempts. Alexander, Laurie Priftis and Emily Duet each joined Bate with one attempt in the contest.

Erica Coker (1-12) recorded nine saves in the loss paired with the two goals allowed. Erin Rose (8-3) gathered the win in net for the Bulldogs with two saves against the one score.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 26 as they host Schreiner University. Kick is slated for 3 p.m.
