Abilene, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team shot a 343 in the first round of the Abilene Intercollegiate at the Diamondback Golf Course on Monday afternoon. The opening day score placed the Ladies in sixth.

Jamie Wright and Taylor Thompson paced the Maroon and White on the opening day. Wright and Thompson are tied for 15th after shooting first round scores of 83. The 83 is the best first round score of the season for Thompson and second best round overall.

Gabrielle Ford is four strokes back of Wright and Thompson in a tie for 25th. Ford’s 87 is her best round of the season. Lindsay Bain is tied for 30th with a 90 in the opening round. The round marks the first round of her career at Centenary. Haley Nidey is in 42nd after shooting a 107 on the opening day.

MHB has two players in the top three spots. McKenzie Ralston leads the pack with a 73 in the first round. Ashley Garbade is tied for second along with TAMUK’s Kirby Sullivan with a 74.

The University of Texas at Tyler sits in first in the team standings with a 309 followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor with a 310 and Texas A&M-Kingsville in third with a 317.

Centenary wraps up the fall half of the schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the final round of the Abilene Intercollegiate.
