ROCKWALL, Texas – Following the first day of competition at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Centenary women’s swim team sits tied for third with the men’s swim team in fourth.

The Ladies tallied 72 points as the Gents gathered 86 points.

The Ladies 800-yard freestyle relay team of Chelsea Russell, Kayla Thornhill, Alex Taylor and Christy Wolterman posted a time of 8:04.36 to claim third in the event. Russell and Thornhill teamed with Jane Barney and Caitlyn Faulhaber in the women’s 200-yard medley relay to finish fourth with a time of 1:53.28.

The Gents’ 200-medley relay team of Andrew Borel, Kellen Bullock, Beau Montgomery and Arash Ataei finished second with a time of 1:34.81. Ataei teamed with Zack Harrison, Anthony McDonald and Juan Tapia to finish fourth in the 800-free relay.

Centenary returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 12 in the second day of the SCAC Championships at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center.
