SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team split a twinbill with Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Thursday afternoon. The Ladies (3-1) evened the doubleheader with a 9-0 in the second contest after falling 5-4 in the opener.

Codi Coghlan and Carissa Herndon each posted multiple-hit efforts on the day. Coghlan went 4-for-6 with three runs and a RBI while Herndon was 4-for-7 with three runs and a RBI.

Anna Dunn posted a two-run homerun on the board in the second contest to get scoring output kick started for the Maroon and White. Emily Sexton added a RBI double in the second inning along with a two-RBI single from Lizzie Moran to extend the lead to 5-0.

After a Michelle Tasin two-run single in the bottom of the third, Herndon doubled to left center to score Dunn. Herndon concluded the scoring crossing the dish on a fielding error to conclude the scoring.

Haley Miller (1-0) garnered the first win of her collegiate career with a three-hit shutout in 5.0 innings.

In the opener, Centenary trailed 5-1 through five innings, but attempted a rally with three runs in the final two trips to the plate, including a solo homer from Coghlan and RBI-double from Cadie Hancock. The Ladies lone remaining run came as Herndon scored on a fielding error.

Laura Perilloux (1-1) took the loss in the circle with 4.2 innings of work. The sophomore allowed four runs on six hits. Melanie Wilson tossed the remaining 2.1 frames surrendering a run on four hits.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 22 in a doubleheader against Millsaps College. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
