Hey Centenary Ladies gymnastics fans! Junior, Kellie Slater here to tell you the latest updates on your favorite gymnastics team!

This past weekend the Ladies traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to compete at the GymQuarters invitational. Before heading to the meet we were able to take a trip to the St. Louis arch. It was such a cool experience because most of us had never seen it before and we were even given the opportunity to ride to the top of the arch and look at the awesome view of the city. When we left the arch it was time to prepare for our fifth meet of the season! Getting ready in the hotel rooms with my teammates is always one of my favorite parts of traveling, between running up and down the halls to each other’s room and making sure our hair and make-up looks perfect it is never a dull moment!

When we got to the meet we started the competition on beam which is not always an easy task. Senior, Natalie Humbert made her way into the beam line-up last weekend for the first time since her ACL surgery and produced an awesome routine. We’re so proud of you Nat! We closed out the competition on bars which has proven to be a difficult task in the past but we ended the meet with six made bar routines!  It’s so rewarding to see our hard work pay off, and our bar stars definitely had a reason to be proud of themselves!

When we got back to school we were on Mardi Gras break! (One of the many perks of going to school in Louisiana.J)  With a few days off school we had the opportunity to get a few team practices in which we usually don’t get to do during the school week.  We focused a lot on our line-ups being able to make 6 routines when it counts!  It always makes for some good practice time when we have the whole team in the gym at the same time!

On Sunday there was a parade some of us went to, to celebrate the holiday. There was also the final regular season game for the Gents basketball team to determine the conference champs. With the win, the Gents became co-conference champions! We are definitely Centenary proud of our basketball team!

This weekend we are headed back to Denton to take on the TWU Pioneers so stay tuned to hear about how it goes from Megan Desjardins!
